Organic manure

Slurry separation is an upcoming technique in the Netherlands. Several (mobile) systems are on the market. Separation results differ per system but also depend on the slurry composition. Separation produces a liquid and a solid fraction. The solid fraction contains more phosphorous than the liquid fraction.

Slurry separation has two positive effects:

  1. Farmers obliged to transport phosphorous off their farms may save transport costs due to the fact that the solid fraction is less voluminous and has a relatively high phosphorous content.
  2. Increase the efficiency of organic manure by applying the (more) solid fraction on parcels with a high phosphorous demand.

The photographs show a mobile screw press.
