Slurry separation is an upcoming technique in the Netherlands. Several (mobile) systems are on the market. Separation results differ per system but also depend on the slurry composition. Separation produces a liquid and a solid fraction. The solid fraction contains more phosphorous than the liquid fraction.
Slurry separation has two positive effects:
- Farmers obliged to transport phosphorous off their farms may save transport costs due to the fact that the solid fraction is less voluminous and has a relatively high phosphorous content.
- Increase the efficiency of organic manure by applying the (more) solid fraction on parcels with a high phosphorous demand.
