(CRA-W) (Walloon Agricultural Research Centre)

The Walloon Agricultural Research Centre (CRA-W) is a scientific institute belonging to the Regional Government of Wallonia. It aims to contribute to the development of a sustainable agriculture in its economic, ecological and cultural dimension. It employs over 500 people of which 120 scientists. Facilities for experimental research are available on 3 locations (Gembloux, Libramont and Mussy-la-Ville).

CRA-W uses its expertise in livestock farming systems to identify the best management strategies to improve systems sustainability. Researches results allow defining references in order to meet EU directives requirements and this more especially in the context of the nitrate, Natura 2000 and Water frame directives.

The Walloon Agricultural Research Centre and more especially the Units 'Farming systems, Territory and information technology' and ’ ‘Animal Breeding, Quality and Welfare Unit’ will coordinate the contributions of Wallonia and is involved in all the actions of all WP’s.
